The Rezidor Hotel Group’s bright new star on the south eastern seaboard of South Africa is also Port Elizabeth’s first 5-star, international, luxury hotel. The Radisson BLU, Port Elizabeth caters to the developing business and leisure tourism in the region and offers a wide range of leisure and business packages to cater for the growing interest in that city as a business and leisure getaway.
INHOUSE Venue Technical Management (Pty) Ltd (IVTM), part of the Gearhouse Group of companies, is contracted to The Radisson BLU, Port Elizabeth, servicing all technical requirements for events taking place at the hotel.
“The hotel claims to be THE best venue choice for “hassle-free, memorable functions,” says IVTM’s Venue Technical Manager for the Radisson, Keith Page, “ so client expectations run high - not only in terms of equipment quality but also in terms of on-site back up, advice and support.” As with most other venues within the IVTM portfolio, the service operates from offices onsite at the venue, ensuring optimum response time and onsite technical consultation at a moment’s notice.
One full floor of the hotel is dedicated to hosting events and conferences. It is comprised of 8 fully equipped high - tech meeting facilities and a 231m2 multi-purpose Ballroom, which is ideal for gala dinners, corporate launches, designer weddings, year-end functions and networking get-togethers.
Keith has been managing the IVTM aspects for the Radisson BLU, Port Elizabeth since September and for its Grand Opening on the 30th October 2009 and finds that his previous experience with corporate events is standing him in good stead. “The calibre of visitor to the Radisson BLU is of a level that demands service excellence. I am available to alleviate any of their technical concerns; to make sure that the event runs exactly as it should and above all to ensure that the client is able to enjoy the event themselves without having to worry about the technical aspects.” he says. IVTM Radisson PE has already successfully provided event technical services for Dulce, PE Tourism, Bidline Auctions and Medihelp at the venue. “I see my role as setting and maintaining a high delivery standard in keeping with the Radisson brand values. I really enjoy what I do and am passionate about delivering a flawless event. I derive enormous satisfaction from making the clients happy, so it I seems I have found my niche.” Now that he has moved “in-house” Keith is looking forward to the challenges ahead. He believes that by working closely with the experienced Banqueting department at the Radisson BLU, IVTM can contribute to the achievement of 100% service excellence in the field of events and conferencing for the Radisson BLU Port Elizabeth.
