As a result of delivering an earlier successful event to introduce the Marriott acquisition of Protea Hotels in April this year; INHOUSE Venue Technical Management (SA's top technical supplier to venues) was offered the opportunity to handle a subsequent Sales conference and Gala dinner event at African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa as well as the General Manager's conference at Arabella Hotel & Spa in June 2014.

With so many international delegates attending Marriott International and Protea Hotels very specifically wanted these events to be memorable and to run absolutely "seamlessly". IVTM came up with separate technical concepts and specifications for both events, making each distinctive and special. The technical requirement was larger than the small-medium sized event set up that IVTM specialises in, so the company also drew on the resources of their partner companies within the Gearhouse Group to supplement with additional stockholding. The ability to service any type of event with the additional capacity of the Group is one of the factors that have been instrumental in IVTM's success to date.

This was a collaborative effort from the specification and quoting stages through to the manufacture and execution, making the delivery of these events hugely successful. The Sales Conference, aimed at the dynamic team driving the success of the Protea Hotels sales team utilised a very fresh, sleek look with discreet audio and visual solutions chosen. At the General Manager's conference all lighting, audio and audio visual equipment was "flown" to provide a very professional, clean and uncluttered look.

Burger Smith and his team from Sets, Drapes, Screens worked hard to accommodate eleventh hour set-building tweaks on site and Ridaa Khan, IVTM's Venue Technical Manager, and his team put the finishing touches to their setup at African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa, Whilst the GM' Conference team, under Gearhouse's Theo van As, prepared for the event at Arabella Hotel & Spa.

"Despite last minute requests in both venues to make improvements to the concepts to suit the rooms, both the sales and general managers' conferences ran smoothly," says Operations Manager Barry Farrell. "On an event of this nature it is convenient for the client to deal with a single contact to access the full range of services rather than trying to co-ordinate a number of different suppliers. Our various companies are accustomed to working together and on a Group event it all runs like clockwork."
